Phenotypic (external) manifestations of the disease allow an experienced physician to form a primary diagnostic hypothesis for a number of diseases (most often for hereditary, endocrine, neurological, and skin diseases). This was the impetus for the development of the concept of an intelligent logical-linguistic-imagery system. In such a system, images as imagery series (image tuples), the elements of which are considered from the point of view of sign theory, can serve as additional arguments at the stages of consideration and confirmation of hypotheses, as well as when making a final decision by the physician–user. In the paper, the foundations of verbal–imagery knowledge, the principles of diagnostics using images, and ways of including images in the knowledge base of the traditional logical-linguistic system have been considered. The possibility of including and using image series has been presented using the example of a project of an expert system for the differential diagnosis of hereditary diseases.
