Our studies are primarily aimed at developing a new class of intelligent, cognitive dynamic systems that would allow to solve yet unresolved problems and challenges assoiciated with artificial intelligence. Those include symbolic and goal-recognition tasks as well as distribution of roles in an ensemble of complex technical objects. In order to build a subsystem for agent behavior and robot architecture control, cognitive dynamic systems use a blend of intelligent control methods, classical AI approaches and cognitive modelling that rely on psychological and biological models.
Russian Artificial Intelligence Research Institute (RAIRI) was founded in 2018 as a research unit of the Federal Research Center “Computer Science and Control” of the Russian Academy of Sciences (FRC CSC RAS), with the Artificial Intelligence and Decision Making department serving as a basis for it. The idea belonged to professor Gennadiy Semenovich Osipov (1948—2020), then the head of the Russian Association for Artificial Intelligence, EurAI Fellow, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics who also became the first director of the Institute.
