71 Department's project presented at the IEEE World Congress on Computational Intelligence 2022


From 18 to 23 July the IEEE World Congress on Computational Intelligence IEEE WCCI 2022 has been condcuted in Padua, Italy — the world's biggest and most influential computational intelligence congress dedicated to the 800 years anniversary of the University of Padua foundation. It's no surprise that over 2000 participants from all over the world came to the congress, planning to take part in one of the three main conferences: the 2022 IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems (FUZZ-IEEE 2022), and the 2022 IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation (IEEE CEC 2022) and the 2022 International Joint Conference on Neural Networks (IJCNN 2022).

A united team of the Federal Research Center "Computer Science and Control" and the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology prepared a report on the Vector Symbolic Scene Representation for Semantic Place Recognition (link) as part of the later session, dedicated to the new two-stage approach TSVLoc that solves the place recognition task as the image retrieval problem. The results of this research were retrieved by the 71st Department of the Russian Artificial Intelligence Research Institute along with their colleagues after three years of working on the joint project financed by the Federal Research Center "Computer Science and Control" of the Russian Academy of Sciences, supported by the Russian Science Foundation grant № 20-71-10116 and led by Aleksandr Panov. The report was presented by its first author, a young scientist Daniil Kirilenko, and the senior research fellow of MIPT Dmitry Yudin who were left very enthusiastic by the congress and the interest shown to the project.
