Annotation

The paper analyzes the possibilities of using the life expectancy (LE) as an indicator of the macroeconomic and psychological situation in the country, as well as an indicator of the quality of government. The analysis was carried out based on the data of LE changes in Russia in the 20th and 21st centuries. A comparison was made with similar data for Sweden. It is shown that the LE reflects these characteristics very quickly and sensitively and can be used to evaluate them.
