Phobic network discourse is a form of expression fears of individuals or groups in online communication. Using an intelligent text analysis tool, we extracted statements with fear semantics from the 60,000 discussions in Kurgan VKontakte local communities. Based on the analysis, we identified a specific type of group fear. This type is characterized by extra expressiveness in describing statements, and in most cases, the increase is due to emotional and rational devalue of the fear cause embedded in description. Such “wrong” as it seems to the addresser fears can compensate emotional consequences of his group identity flaws by rationalizing of in-group discrimination, as well as by rationalizing of discrimination and denying of importance towards out-groups.
