Annotation

Growing public expectations and tight fiscal policies are leading to an increasing need to choose scientific priorities in medicine. This paper provides a retrospective analysis of the organization and management of healthcare and medical science in the Soviet Union. The experience of forming scientific priorities in medicine in the Soviet period is studied. The advantages and disadvantages of the approaches are noted.
